Google aspires to be an organization that reflects the globally diverse audience that our search engine and tools serve. We believe that in addition to hiring the best talent, a diversity of perspectives, ideas and cultures leads to the creation of better products and services. This diversity of our employees and partners serves as the foundation for us to better serve our diverse customers and stakeholders all over the world.
Google is also invested in increasing the pipeline of future computer scientists and software developers, particularly those who are historically underrepresented in the field. Many aspiring computer scientists could benefit from a program that bridges the gap between academic study and a professional internship. Google wants to inspire these students to continue in the field with such a program.
With this in mind, Google announces the Engineering Practicum Internship in Australia for Summer 2013. Current bachelor students majoring, or intending to major, in Computer Science or a closely related field will be selected to participate. Students who are a member of a group that is historically under-represented in the technology industry are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to women and students with disabilities.
We invite you to join us for the 2013 Engineering Practicum Internship program!
• Intern projects are determined based on the experience, skills, and interests of the student.
• Be currently enrolled in a 4-year BA/BS program, majoring in Computer Science or closed related
• Experience in systems software or algorithms
• Programming experience in either Java, Python, C, or C++
Google is and always will be an engineering company. We hire people with a broad set of technical skills who are ready to tackle some of technology's greatest challenges and make an impact on millions, if not billions, of users. At Google, engineers not only revolutionize search, they routinely work on massive scalability and storage solutions, large-scale applications and entirely new platforms for developers around the world. From AdWords to Chrome, Android to YouTube, Social to Local, Google engineers are changing the world one technological achievement after another.
CompCon 2013 has happened. A blurb of how it went will be in next weeks newsletter. Till then, you can check out the live tweets which happened during the talks, some of which happened at alarming rates of 1.1 tweets per minute.
